Girls Skate Day in Tofino was a huge success, with over 40 girls coming out to skate the park! Females of all ages and skill levels ripped it up to the tunes of DJ Cherry Bomb - lots of girls had never been on a board before, and it was awesome to see them improve over the course of the afternoon.
Girls as young as 5 years old skated hard in the sun during the three-hour event, and there were some great prizes handed out at the end thanks to our supportive sponsors. The draw prizes fundraised $135.00 for the Friends of Clayoquot Sound and we received some local press from the Westcoaster - check out the story at:

Girls Skate Day will go off at the Tofino Skatepark on Saturday, June 28th 2008 from Noon-3:00pm .
*Rain Date scheduled for Sunday, June 29th
The park will be open for ALL FEMALES to skateboard during this FREE event. Girls of all ages and abilities are welcome, even if they have NEVER been on a board before. Talented local skaters from Surf Sister will be ripping it up while DJ Cherry Bomb spins killer tunes, and enter to win awesome DRAW PRIZES with all proceeds going to the Friends of Clayoquot Sound!
SOME EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED but skaters can bring their own gear - helmets are mandatory. Waivers will be available at sign in on the day of the event.

To celebrate 5 years of hosting Calgary’s ONLY all-female skateboarding event, See Jane Skate is teaming up with Westside Recreation Centre’s Summer Bash to offer the best in skateboarding, music and entertainment for all ages. Talented female competitors from all over Canada will battle for CASH PRIZES, along with girl DJ’s from Girls On Deck, a B-Girls’ Breakin’ Showcase for female break dancers, CROWD GIVEAWAYS and tons of FREE entertainment for everyone!
